Why Privacy?

Digital Promise and EdSurge value your privacy and the materials you are submitting. As a result, when you submit any award applications, you grant us permission to share your name and work.


Entry Submissions

  1. The Digital Learning in Innovation Awards (the "DILAs") are open to full time educators for the teacher category, full time administrators for the administrator category, and individuals representing and employed at organizations for the organizations category. By submitting an application form to enter the DILAs, entrant confirms they belong to that category.
  2. The DILAs are not open to employees of EdSurge or Digital Promise, family members of employees, or family members of anyone judging the DILAs.
  3. The video artifact must have been created after April 15, 2015. The entry may include or consist of older material.
  4. Submissions must be in English or have English subtitles.
  5. All applicants must use the online application form at dilas.org and follow the instructions available on the website. The deadline for all submissions is 11:59pm Pacific Standard Time on August 24, 2015. Entries received after this deadline will not be processed.
  6. No responsibility is taken for submissions that are lost, delayed, misdirected or incomplete or cannot be delivered or entered for any technical or other reason.
  7. Edsurge and Digital Promise reserve the right to not process submissions that do not include the required material or exceed the limits for submission content. Videos running in excess of 3 minutes will be reviewed only until the 3 minute mark.
  8. Submissions must be the original work of the individual or the team.
  9. It is the responsibility of the entrant to make sure that all copyrights and intellectual property rights are cleared for all material included in their submission. Where there are clear breaches of copyrights or other intellectual property rights, the judges will exclude the submission from further assessment.
  10. It is recommended at the time of the submission that the entrant have good documentation and/or evidence as to how copyright issues and intellectual property rights related to the submission have been resolved.
  11. By submitting, entrants confirm that they have the right to enter and have obtained any and all consents, permissions, media release forms, and authorizations that may be necessary (whether from an institution of employment or otherwise) in order to enter and that there is no material in the submission that would violate any local, state or federal privacy laws.
  12. Entrants may win only one award, but may enter more than one category (only one entry per award category will be considered, however). In the case that the entrant is in competition to win more than one award, it is the responsibility of the jury and the organizing committee to reach a decision as to which award is most appropriate to the entrant.
  13. Entries on behalf of another person or organization will not be accepted.
  14. Awards will be granted to the named individual or organization identified as the applicant.

Judging the Awards/The Prizes:

  1. The list of people acting as judges for the DILAs, who are not affiliated with or paid by Digital Promise or EdSurge, and the criteria to be applied by the judges will be displayed on the website at dilas.org.
  2. Only finalists and award category winners will be contacted by Edsurge and Digital Promise. Finalists and award category winners will be contacted by email no later than November 1, 2015.
  3. All award category winners will be invited to attend the DILAs ceremony to take place in November 2015. Only the lead applicant as identified on the submission will receive travel funding to attend the ceremony.
  4. Lead applicants of award category winners who are traveling from outside the United States will receive travel funding from their point of entry into the United States.
  5. The judges' decisions are final and no negotiations or correspondence with entrants will be entered into.
  6. The prizes for the winners in each category and group of the DILAs will be detailed on the website at dilas.org.
  7. The prizes are non-exchangeable, non-transferable, and are not redeemable for cash or other prizes. EdSurge and Digital Promise accept no responsibility for any costs associated with the DILAs, including any prize not specifically included in the prizes.

  11. Lead applicants of award category winners who are traveling from outside the United States will receive travel funding from their point of entry into the United States.
  12. The overall winner in each group (Teacher, Organization, Administrator) of the DILAs will be announced at the DILAs ceremony. More complete details of the DILAs ceremony will be provided to award category winners at the time they are notified of their inclusion.
  13. The judges' decisions are final and no negotiations or correspondence with entrants will be entered into.
  14. The prizes for the winners in each category and group of the DILAs will be detailed on the website at awards.edsurge.com.
  15. The prizes are non-exchangeable, non-transferable, and are not redeemable for cash or other prizes. EdSurge and Digital Promise accept no responsibility for any costs associated with the DILAs, including any prize and not specifically included in the prizes.

Other Terms and Conditions:

  1. Details of the winners will be published on the website dilas.org in November 2015.
  2. EdSurge and Digital Promise accept no responsibility for any damage, loss, liabilities, injury or disappointment incurred or suffered as a result of entering the DILAs or accepting the prize.
  3. In order for EdSurge and Digital Promise to consider their entry, each entrant: (a) grants Edsurge and Digital Promise nonexclusive perpetual worldwide license to copy, edit, display, publish, broadcast and make available their entry in any format in connection with the DILAs or promotion of the DILAs (including at dilas.org, as necessary); (b) agrees that EdSurge and Digital Promise may publish their name in connection with EdSurge and Digital Promise's use of the entry; and (c) warrants that the work submitted with their entry is their own original work, that it is not defamatory and that it shall not infringe any third-party rights including, without limitation, privacy.
  4. EdSurge and Digital Promise shall be under no obligation to publish or exhibit any entry.
  5. EdSurge and Digital Promise reserve the right at any time and from time to time to modify or discontinue, temporarily or permanently, the DILAs or any feature thereof with or without prior notice due to reasons outside their control.
